Clooney and DiCaprio to team?

On a film adaptation of “Farragut North”

Now here’s a post-strike project that’s bound to be good : Leonardo DiCaprio and George Clooney teaming as star and director, respectively, of ‘’Farragut North,” based on the play of the same name.

According to Variety, the WB project sees Beau Willimon, writer of the play (which will hit Broadway next year with Jake Gyllenhaal in the lead role and Mike Nichols directing), return to pen the screenplay. It’s the second writing gig in less than a month for Willimon, who was also recently reported to be writing the film version of a mini-series called “The Jury” for Fox2000.

“North” tells of a young communications director for a fast-rising presidential candidate. During the course of the campaign, the idealistic young man falls prey to the backstabbing and other dirty trickery of seasoned rivals.
