Collateral Beauty loses director

Alfonso Gomez-Rejon has exited New Line’s Will Smith starer “Collateral Beauty”, reports Deadline.

Gomez-Rejon was attached to direct the film but has stepped down due to creative differences with New Line.

This move comes less than a month after the studio nabbed the worldwide rights to the project.

Hugh Jackman was initially on board to play the lead role in “Collateral Beauty”. Rooney Mara was also on board to star, but both Jackman and Mara subsequently exited the film.

Smith took over the lead, set to star as a New York advertising exec who experiences a personal tragedy and the subsequent unconventional plan from his colleagues to break him out of his depression.
