Daveed Diggs in talks for Disney’s live-action The Little Mermaid

The upcoming live-action remake of “The Little Mermaid” could have a voice for Sebastian, with Daveed Diggs reportedly in talks to take on the role. Sebastian is the Jamaican Crab who serves as an advisor to King Triton.

Already cast is Halle Bailey as Ariel, a mermaid princess who dreams of being a human, while Melissa McCarthy is playing her evil aunt Ursula. Javier Bardem is on board to play King Triton.

“The Little Mermaid” is being directed by Rob Marshall and is written by David Magee. The flick will incorporate songs from the 1989 animated classic (can anyone else believe that film is 30-years old now?!). It will also have new songs under the guise of producer Lin-Manuel Miranda and original composer Alan Menken.

Diggs starred in the musical “Hamilton” (created by Miranda), and has transitioned to film in “Blindspotting” – which he also co-wrote – and recent Netflix flick “Velvet Buzzsaw”.
