David Mamet remaking Have Gun – Will Travel

This one’s been toyed with a few times (from memory, Eminem was even involved in a film version at one stage – that quickly fell by the wayside) but sounds like David Mamet’s a signature away from finalizing a reboot of “Have Gun – Will Travel” for CBS. This incarnation of a long-proposed remake of the ’50s western series is already further along than most attempts got, by the sounds.

Mamet (“Wag the Dog”) will be EP and writer on the project, working alongside non-writing EP Elliott Webb.

Original series fixed on Professional gunfighter Paladin, a West Point graduate who, after the Civil War, settled into San Francisco’s Hotel Carlton where he awaited responses to his business card: over the picture of a chess knight “Have Gun, Will Travel … Wire Paladin, San Francisco.”

If ordered to pilot, Mamet will likely direct that debut episode.
