James Van Der Beek, fresh from “CSI : Cyber” (it got the chop recently), will star in the British series “Carters Get Rich”.
Per Deadline, the six-part half-hour comedy series centers on a normal family as they try to hold onto their rags in the face of corrupting riches.
The story follows 11 year old Harry Carter who creates Honc, an app for geeky kids like him who don’t know how to talk to girls. When Honc becomes the next big social networking success, it’s bought for £10M by Van Der Beek’s American billionaire, Trent Zebrisky. The sitcom looks at how the family copes with a life-changing experience — and the posh advisor that Zebrisky installs to guide them.
Rhashan Stone, Kerry Godliman ,John Finnemore, Rhianna Merralls and Rio Chambers also star.
