Visual effects vet Tim Miller (“X-Men”) will direct “Deadpool”, 20th Century Fox’s much-tinkered-with retelling of the comic book character first introduced in 2009’s “X-Men Origins : Wolverine”.
Based on a script by “Zombieland” scribes Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick, “Deadpool” sees Ryan Reynolds reprising his role – from “Wolverine” – as Wade Wilson, ”a smart-mouthed mercenary with terminal cancer who undergoes military experiments in an attempt to replicate Wolverine’s mutant healing factor. He comes away with the ability to heal quickly, but for the price of being indestructible he is rendered severely scarred.”
The script that leaked last year was fabulous, hopefully it hasn’t been toyed with too much by the powers-that-be.
