Deadpool writers developing ‘New Coke’ film

“Deadpool” writers Paul Wernick and Rhett Reese are set to develop a film about Coca Cola’s disastrous product launch ‘New Coke’.

In 1985, the company set out to change the taste of Coke, hoping to create a new drink for the younger generations. The product was received so badly the brand was put at risk.

Pepsi, meanwhile, introduced their own marketing campaign, ‘Pepsi Challenge’, which prompted corporate panic at Coca Cola.

Wernick and Reese have optioned Thomas Oliver’s book “The Real Coke, The Real Story”. They will write the script and produce.
