Death Proof slated for November release

Downunder debut for Grindhouse Part 1

The long-awaited “‘Death Proof,” one of the two films featured in the ”Grindhouse” double bill that was originally planned for release in Australia earlier this year, will finally make its downunder debut in November.

The film, directed by Quentin Tarantino, stars Kurt Russell as s a psychotic stunt driver who uses his souped-up movie car to stalk and kill unsuspecting young women. But Russell gets more than he bargained for when he targets a group of girls with a deadly fast ride of their own and a crazy streak almost as long as his, setting the stage for a breakneck chase on a windy rural road. Rosario Dawson, Tracie Thoms, Zoe Bell also star.

Initially, ”Grindhouse” was to feature two films – ”Death Proof” and Robert Rodriguez’s ”Planet Terror” – but when the film flopped stateside (seemed nobody was much interested in sitting through two back-to-back movies) it was quickly decide to separate both films and unleash them internationally as singular movies. Both will apparently now be longer cuts with new scenes unseen by those that attended the double feature.

”Death Proof” will hit Aussie theatres on November 8 – near two months after the pic makes its U.S DVD debut (See here to pre-order).
