Delayed Apes doesn’t equal dud

Fox has moved “Caesar : Rise of the Apes” from June to November…. suggesting the prequel to the old Roddy McDowell flicks isn’t anywhere near ready.

The flick, directed by Rupert Wyatt and starring James Franco, has swapped places with “Mr. Popper’s Penguins”, the new family comedy starring Jim Carrey.

No need to go Ape though, “Caesar” is looking to be a good flick – at least according to those involved with it. Co-star Tyler Labine tells Screen Junkies, ”Basically the leading character is Cesar the Ape and he’s such a pioneer of motion capture craft and had people crying behind the monitors without saying a word, he’s so great. John Lithgow plays a very touching character in there and there’s a lot of humanity to juxtapose what’s about to happen. I think we need to see how humane we are in the beginning, in the prequel, so that there’s a bit of a rivalry between the humans and the apes by the time we get to Planet of the Apes.”

I know a few people who have read the script and they too say it’s a great story, so I think it’s safe to say the only reason the film has been delayed is because the effects aren’t done or they want to do some reshoots… or something.
