James Ponsoldt (“The Spectacular Now”) is in talks to write and direct “West of Sunset” for Sidney Kimmel Entertainment.

The movie, based on the Stewart O’Nan novel, follows author F.Scott Fitzgerald in the last years of his life.

Will Gluck (“Annie”) will direct Disney’s untitled lottery movie (previously known as “Lucky Guy”) for producer Dan Lin.

Though the lead character is no longer a guy but a gal, the story remains the same : An unlucky woman’s run of bad luck continues when everyone in town wins the lottery except her.

Catherine Hardwicke (“Twilight,” “Red Riding Hood”) is in early talks to helm “Love Letters to the Dead” for Temple Hill Entertainment and Fox 2000. Based on a book, it fixes on a girl who, for school, writes a letter to the deceased musician Kurt Cobain. Soon, she has a whole notebook of letters to famous dead people -like Janis Joplin and Heath Ledger – that help her come to terms with the abuse she suffered and the death of her sibling.

Baran bo Odar will direct action thriller “Sleepless Night”, about a corrupt Las Vegas cop whose son is kidnaped by gangsters. The movie will star Jamie Foxx, Gabrielle Union, Michelle Monaghan, T.I., Dermot Mulroney, Scoot McNairy and David Harbour. Filming begins June 15 in Vegas and Atlanta.
