Do we have a female lead for the Alien prequel?

First things first, we do – contrary to reports – have an “Alien” prequel. Maybe even two. Rumours that the Ridley Scott directed Space-jockey yarn has been either delayed or shut down didn’t register too high on the truth meter.

A couple of hours back Alicia wrote that Charlize Theron has pulled out of Eastwood’s “J.Edgar” in favour of playing the female lead in Uni’s “Snow White and the Huntsman”. But over at Vulture, they say otherwise; according to the New York based outfit, Theron’s actually considering the “Alien” prequel – and that’s why she’s unable to play in the Hoover biopic.

Scribe Damon Lindelof is said to have written the film’s lead female character so that it’s ”larger and befitting”. Theron will receive the script next week and will soon after decide whether she wants to do the pic.

The only person seemingly against the hiring of Theron is director Scott. Scott, as we’ve heard in the past, is keen to have Swede Noomi Rapace (“The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo”) play the female lead – with Michael Fassbender and Michelle Yeoh also in there – but Fox, understandably, want a bigger name to drive the craft into orbit.
