Elizabeth Banks resurrects Charlie’s Angels

“Pitch Perfect 2” helmer Elizabeth Banks is is in talks to revive the “Charlie’s Angels” franchise at Sony.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Banks and husband Max Handleman would direct and produce a reboot of the TV series cum movie franchise. A search is now underway for a writer.

The original ’70s series starred Farrah Fawcett, Kate Jackson and Jaclyn Smith, while the noughties movie version – and it’s sequel – featured Drew Barrymore, Cameron Diaz and Lucy Liu in the main roles. McG directed the two films, the first of which was significantly more successful than the latter.

The franchise returned to TV in 2011 as a short-lived TV series.

No word on whether Banks’ new film will have any connection to the previous film entries.
