Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci are attached to star in Disney’s highly anticipated “Beauty and the Beast” remake.
Variety reports Tucci has signed on to play a new character; Cadenza the grand piano, described as a neurotic maestro.
Meanwhile, according to The Hollywood Reporter, Ewan McGregor is in final negotiations to play Lumiere, “a suave maitre d’ who is turned into a candelabra by the curse that falls on the prince’s castle.”
The two new additions join Emma Watson as Belle, Dan Stevens as the Beast/Prince, Luke Evans as villain Gaston, Josh Gad as Le Fou, Ian McKellen as Cogsworth and Audra McDonald as Garderobe.
Bill Condon is directing with production slated for May at Shepperton Studios, London.
“Beauty and the Beast” releases on March 17, 2017.
