After his done battling “Ghostbusters” trolls, filmmaker Paul Feig fancies regrouping with Melissa McCarthy, Jason Statham and Rose Byrne for a sequel to the rather terrific “Spy”.
The “Ghostbusters” (2016) helmer tells Empire that the “Spy” series is a “world that I don’t want to walk away from. It’s the first thing I did that I set up to be a possible franchise and Melissa is dying to do it. I have a story for it, and a funny idea that will kick it off that involves Statham.”
And no, Statham’s Rick Ford won’t be any more self-aware in the sequel than he was in the original film.
”He’ll get less self-aware” says Feig.
Whether the “Spy” sequel happens before “The Heat 2”, which Feig and McCarthy are also expected to reunite on, seems like it’s a definite.. so feel free to add it to Feig’s IMDB listing, someone.
