Footage from Dylan Dog Online!

There’s a lot riding of “Dylan Dog : Dead of Night” – for Brandon Routh. As I see it, and I’m sure he sees it, this is the young actor’s chance to shape-shift seamlessly from Superman to, well, another character from the world of inked offerings. If the film, based on the Italian comic books of the same name, is a hit – or even if Routh receives some good feedback for his turn – then there’ll ideally be no need for him to keep dropping penny’s in wishing wells, in the hope Warner Bros retains his services as Superman (which they won’t). This is Routh’s second, big chance at stardom – one that, unlike “Superman”, should lead to some fun franchise action. Coupled with his supporting turn in “Scott Pilgrim vs. the World”, “Dylan Dog” seems like the perfect way to expunge the curse of Superman from the former bowling alley employee’s existence, too!

The Kevin ‘TMNT’ Munroe-directed film, which was filmed last year, doesn’t have a distributor (it will soon enough) but it’s apparently going to be released in Italy later this year. And, in fact, it’s an Italian TV station that’s giving us our first glimpse of Routh as the British inspector of nightmares – and I have to say, he…it.. looks good!
