Four directors in the mix for Star Trek 3

Guess those rumours suggesting Edgar Wright and/or Joe Wright were yakking about boarding the Enterprise were as false as ma’s teeth.

Deadline reports that the cats currently up to replace Roberto Orci as the director of “Star Trek III : The Search for that hot green chick from the first movie” are Rupert Wyatt (“Rise of the Planet of the Apes”), Morten Tyldum (“The Imitation Game”), Justin Lin (“Fast Five”) and Daniel Espinosa (“Safe House”). Duncan Jones (“Source Code”) was also rumoured to be in the mix, but he pissed on the flaming rumour via Twitter.

While Paramount could probably snag a good film out of any of those chaps, it’s Wyatt who is penciled into the number 1 spot on that wishlist. The in-demand filmmaker, whose newie “The Gambler” opens next month, has already met with the powers-that-be – suggesting there’s a good chance a deal could happen.

Roberto Orci’s exit was announced last week.
