Fox moves Apes, slots Gambit and Assassin’s Creed

Fox has pushed the next “Apes” movie by a year, while scheduling the next installment of “X-Men” and the Michael Fassbender starrer “Assassin’s Creed”.

The sequel to “Dawn of the Planet of the Apes” has been shifted from July 2016 to July 14, 2017.

“Gambit”, a spin-off of the “X-Men” franchise starring Channing Tatum, will open October 7, 2016.

“Assassin’s Creed”, based on the video game of the same name, will open December 21, 2016.

Also scheduled by Fox : “The Greatest Showman on Earth”, starring Hugh Jackman, opens Christmas Day, 2016; “The Mountain Between Us”, starring Rosamund Pike and Charlie Hunnam, opens February 10, 2017; “and “Mike & Dave Need Wedding Dates”, will release July 29, 2016 – originally reserved for “Apes 3”.
