Friday Night Lights cutie rules the Nation

Coach’s daughter stars in “Hickory”

Aimee Teegarden (NBC’s “Friday Night Lights”) is officially attached to star in Velveteen Films’ upcoming feature film “Hickory Nation”.

Written and Directed by Velveteen’s Rebecca Cook (“Shooting Livien”, “A Touch of Fate”), “Hickory Nation” revolves around the aftermath of a mysterious hit-and-run in a small Maine coastal community, unexpectedly bringing together a teacher and her two students, each struggling to resolve respective secrets and lies. Teegarden is attached to play one of the students, a local beauty queen.

“Aimee is a bright, fresh and intelligent talent, and luckily for us, there was mutual enthusiasm and interest in working together.” Cook said.

“Hickory Nation” is to be produced by Amy Slotnick (“Frida”, “Serendipity”, “The Business of Being Born”) and Boston-based Jeff Kalligheri of Dolce Vita Productions, along with Cook’s Velveteen Films. Velveteen’s Nick Edney is on board as executive producer. Casting Director for the film is Jodi Collins, CSA.

Project is slated to lens in Boston, taking advantage of the Massachusetts Tax Incentive for filmmakers.

“Hickory Nation” is the fourth feature produced through Velveteen Films. Previous productions include indie festival favorite “Shooting Livien” with Jason Behr (“The Grudge”), Dominic Monaghan (“Lord of the Rings”, ABC’s “Lost”) & Sarah Wynter (Fox’s “24”, NBC’s “Windfall”), and “A Touch of Fate” with Teri Hatcher (ABC’s “Desperate Housewives”). Legal representation is Steven Beer at Greenberg Traurig.
