Doug Liman is in final negotiations to replace original director Rupert Wyatt at the helm of Fox’s “X-Men” spinoff “Gambit”.
According to THR, Liman beat out other contenders Joe Cornish, Shane Black and, earlier on, F. Gary Gray, for the job.
Channing Tatum and Lea Seydoux are set to star in “Gambit”, about the titular New Orleans native mutant with kinetic energy manipulation abilities and penchant for stealing.
“Gambit” is slated for release on October 7, 2016.
