Glee chasing Scream Queens

The creators behind Fox’s “Glee” are back at the network to produce another show – a comedy-horror anthology series titled “Scream Queens”.

Fox has given the show a straight-to-series, 15 episode order.

Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Ian Brennan created “Scream Queens” which will centre on two female leads each season. The first season will revolve around activity at a college campus that is rocked by a series of murders.

Murphy, Falchuk and Brennan will exec produce with Dante Di Loreto for 20th Century Fox TV.

“We loved every element of the pitch for this show – the genre-bending concept, which blends true horror with big comedic moments; the diverse and unforgettable characters and reuniting the phenomenal creative team that delivered ‘Glee,’ ” said Fox Television Group chairmen and CEOs Gary Newman and Dana Walden . “It’s a huge commitment and an expression of our faith in Ryan. We are ecstatic to have him, along with Brad, Ian and Dante as our partners on this exciting ride.”

The anthology style show will likely reflect that of Murphy and Falchuk’s “American Horror Story”, which airs on FX.

“We hope to create a whole new genre – comedy-horror – and the idea is for every season to revolve around two female leads,” Murphy said. “We’re very grateful to Dana and Gary for their enthusiastic support.”

“Scream Queens” is scheduled to premiere next year in the US fall.
