Happy Feet 2

“Happy Feet 2”, the follow up to Australian George Miller’s 2006 breakout animated smash hit, follows the journey of Mumble’s (voice of Elijah Wood) son, Erik, who is struggling to realize his talents in the Emperor Penguin world. Meanwhile, a new danger threatens their home, and it will take Erik, Mumble and everyone working together to save them.

While this film did not create the same sensation as the original when it hit theatres, don’t take it for a substandard sequel as it surely is not. No expense was spared in maintaining the quality of the film, the animation is breathtaking, and the list of stars who have signed on to the film has expanded, with Robin Williams returning to provide many of the laughs, and Brad Pitt, Matt Damon, Pink, and Sofia Vergara just some of the new talent to join him.

And when Erik, the little penguin munchkin, looks up at the screen even the iciest hearts will melt, such is the cuteness that has not been seen since ”Puss In Books” entered the ”Shrek” franchise in ”Shrek 2”.

The ”Happy Feet” film series is admirable for its down to earth messages of acceptance and team work, and is a perfect family film.

Blu-ray extras/details : This is a combo pack, meaning you get the film on Blu-ray, DVD and on digital disc.
The blu-ray looks a million bucks! Atypical of animated movies, there’s not a flaw to be found with the BD release – nice 1080p/AVC/2.40:1 video transfer, 5.1 DTS-HD MA track. Nice!
Extras wise, there’s not as much to sing about! Well, unless you’re a ‘Pink’ fan or 6-year-old – there’s a featurette on the song Pink did for the movie, as well as some music videos and a Looney Tunes cartoon. Sadly, no commentary by Robin Williams – one could only imagine how much fun that would’ve been to listen to!
