Harry Shearer quits The Simpsons

Veteran “Simpsons” performer Harry Shearer has quit the show after twenty-six seasons.

The “This is Spinal Tap” alum provided the voices of such characters as Mr. Burns, Waylon Smithers, Ned Flanders, and Principal Skinner on the hit animated series.

Shearer revealed that he was leaving via a post on Twitter, simply saying he wanted to free up the time to do other things.

Fox aren’t planning to kill off the characters Shearer played on the show but will instead recast.
