MGM wants to get damp again, hoping to entice Craig Robinson, Rob Corddry and Clark Duke back into the Hot Tub Time Machine.
The Hollywood Reporter says a sequel to the 2010 laffer is being considered – without star John Cusack at this point (he likely refused to return, so they’re carrying on without him) – with director Steve Pink looking to resume his position as director.
The film, if it comes together, would be fast-tracked.
The original film snared over $50 million at the box office, and did even better on DVD and Blu-ray.
While I think Cusack’s absence from any “Hot Tub Time Machine” sequel would be unfortunate, not to mention quite noticeable, a nifty concept – one that goes beyond the originals – could raise the interest factor.
