Huntsman spin-off : Cedric Nicolas-Troyan directing

Update! : According to Deadline, Cedric Nicolas-Troyan, who worked visual effects (and won an Oscar nomination for his efforts) on the first “Snow White and the Huntsman”, is directing the spin-off film, “The Huntsman”. Nicolas-Tryon also directed second unit on similar-themed project “Maleficent”, and is attached to direct a reboot of “Highlander” for Summit.

Previously :

“The Huntsman”, a proposed spin-off of “Snow White and the Huntsman” that would fix on Chris Hemsworth’s character, has lost it’s director. But with Emily Blunt said to be in talks to play the film’s villain, seems the project is still very much a go.

Despite working with the studio for a year on the project, Frank Darabont (“The Mist”) has parted ways with Universal on the spin-off of Rupert Sanders’ 2012 film. Deadline, who broke the news on Darabont’s exit, say a replacement will likely be announced as early as next week.

Meanwhile, The Wrap says Blunt (“Edge of Tomorrow”) would play the sister of Charlize Theron’s villainous Ravenna character from the first film. While Hemsworth’s Huntsman is on a quest to destroy the magic mirror, she’s on a mission to destroy him – for knocking off her sister.

Charlize Theron is expected to appear in the film, but obviously in flashbacks. Kristen Stewart’s Snow White won’t appear.
