Bruce Willis’s next straight-to-disc dud will be…

a former CIA operative who hasn’t been the same since his wife was murdered. His son is a fresh young CIA operative following in his footsteps and with his father they are working on the development of a super-weapon called the Condor, when dad is kidnapped by a terrorist group. Learning that there is no plan for his father to be saved, Harry launches his own rescue operation. It leads to a conspiracy that will change his life forever.

Like a crack addict hooked on returning to the nose accessory that they know does them know good, Willis’ association with green-eyed, straight-to-DVD outputers Emmett/Furla/Oasis Films has near destroyed Bruno’s couple of decades of very solid film work. The Bruce Willis of today isn’t half the actor, let alone the commodity, the Bruce Willis of the ’90s – with his [good] “Die Hard” pictures, “Pulp Fiction”, “Sixth Sense”, “Unbreakable”, “Twelve Monkeys” – was. Heck, back then, a poor Bruce Willis movie was considered something like “Mercury Rising”; nowadays, even that looks like a prospective Awards contender next to the garbage Willis is doing – forgettable fare like “The Prince”, “Fire with Fire”, “Catch .44”, “The Cold Light of Day”, “Set Up”, and this week’s “Vice”.

But here he goes again, back to the easy-money well, signing for another Emmett/Furla/Oasis production. It’s just sad.

This next one, to be directed by Steven C.Miller (director of Steven Seagal dud “Submerged”; at one stage, Willis would strictly work with filmmakers who had a good back catalog of films!), is called “Extraction” and will star the former box office king as “a former CIA operative who hasn’t been the same since his wife was murdered. His son is a fresh young CIA operative following in his footsteps and with his father they are working on the development of a super-weapon called the Condor, when dad is kidnapped by a terrorist group. Learning that there is no plan for his father to be saved, Harry launches his own rescue operation. It leads to a conspiracy that will change his life forever.”

The film will be released in July – yes, this July, meaning it’s definitely of the ‘quick and nasty’ variety.
