Inside Out will premiere at Cannes, watch first clip

Disney Pixar’s animated flick “Inside Out” is set to premiere at the 68th annual Cannes Film Festival.

“We are overjoyed at being included in this year’s official selection at Cannes,” said director Pete Docter.“With ‘Inside Out,’ we spent years imagining – and then building – never-before-seen settings and characters within the mind. It was an incredible, fun and exciting challenge and now we can’t wait to share it with the world.”

Producer Jonas Rivera and co-director Ronnie Del Carmen (who both worked with Doctor on “Up”) will attend the Cannes event along with members of the voice-cast.

Amy Poehler, Bill Hader, Lewis Black, Mindy Kaling and Phyllis Smith star as the five emotions in 11-year-old Riley’s mind (Joy, Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness). Based in Headquarters, the control center of Riley’s mind, the film follows the Emotions as they guide Riley through the difficult transition when her family moves to a new city.

But when Joy and Sadness are inadvertently swept into the far reaches of Riley’s mind—taking some of her core memories with them—Fear, Anger and Disgust are left reluctantly in charge. Joy and Sadness must venture through unfamiliar places—Long Term Memory, Imagination Land, Abstract Thought and Dream Productions—in a desperate effort to get back to Headquarters, and Riley.

“Inside Out” will hit U.S. theaters on June 19. Watch the first clip from the film below (did anyone else’s heart just melt for Sadness?!)
