For what it’s worth, The Sun claims to know the shortlist of actors being considered to replace Daniel Craig as James Bond.
The oft-rumoured Idris Elba (“Luther”, “Pacific Rim”) is on the list, as is Michael Fassbender (“Prometheus”), Charlie Hunnam (“Pacific Rim”), Aidan Turner (“The Hobbit”) and “Thor” alum Tom Hiddleston, whose name has popped up a few times in relations to the role in recent times.
EON Productions franchise boss Barbara Broccoli is also apparently meeting young Jamie Bell (“King Kong”) and James Norton (“Belle”).
The paper seems to think Elba has the best chance at replacing Craig, should the “Spectre” star opt to give up the keys to Q’s backroom.
An insider told the paper : “To get anyone to take over from Daniel will be a tough job. There will be a lot of trepidation about a new Bond, but Idris’ talent and proven appeal gives executives a lot of heart. Idris may be a little older than the other candidates but he looks like he is still in his 30s. MGM are confident that they are in a pretty strong place with a raft of talent available.”
Elba has said in the past that he hasn’t been approached for the role and just as well, he thinks he’s too old to play the suave agent. Maybe he’s right… I dunno.
What about another Aussie Bond? might someone like Chris Hemsworth or Joel Edgerton get a look-in then?
