Josh Gad will play film critic Roger Ebert in STX Entertainment’s comedy “Russ & Roger”.
Will Ferell is attached to play Russ Meyer, the sexploitation filmmaker who made Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, a satire that became a 70s classic.
The film is described as “a debaucherous comedy centering on two outsiders who defied the Hollywood establishment and made one of the first X-rated films ever released by a major movie studio, having the party of a lifetime in the process”.
Michael Winterbottom is directing from a script by Chris Cluess with a polish by Winterbottom, Neil Gibbons and Rob Gibbons.
David Permut, Mark Amin and Richard Waltzer are producing.
