Doctor Who actress added to The Circle

Karen Gillan (“Doctor Who”, “Guardians of the Galaxy”) has signed on to join Tom Hanks, Emma Watson and John Boyega in “The Circle”.

James Ponsoldt is directing the adaptation of Dave Eggers’ novel about a young woman (Watson) who is hired by an Internet monopoly called the Circle. The company links users’ personal emails, social media, banking, and purchasing with their universal operating system, resulting in one online identity and a new age of civility and transparency.

According to Deadline, Gillan will play Annie, “a warm, cute, goofy, old-money confident and fiercely intelligent member of The Circle”.

Production kicks off this month in California.
