Judi Dench Joins Eastwood’s Hoover Biopic

British actress Judi Dench (Quantam of Solace) has been cast in Clint Eastwood’s  J. Edgar. The biopic is based on FBI director J. Edgar Hoover, focusing on his scandalous career and controversial private life as a homosexual and rumored cross dresser. The confirmed cast so far includes Leonardo DiCaprio in the main role as Hoover and Armie Hammer (The Social Network) as Clyde Tolson, Hoover’s assistant/closeted lover.

The Playlist is also reporting that Charlize Theron (Monster) is likely to also star in J. Edgar as Helen Gandy, Hoover’s secretary. Aussie actor Damon Herriman (FX’s Justified) will also appear in the film as Bruno Hauptmann, the man convicted of kidnapping and killing the Lindbergh baby.

Filming is set to begin in February 2011.
