Jurassic World smashes box office record

“Jurassic World” has set a new box office record for the biggest global opening of all time, raking in a massive $511.8 million worldwide on its opening weekend.

The dinosaur thriller is the first film to make over $500 million in one weekend, opening in first place in every territory in which it debuted.

In the US, “Jurassic World” grossed $204.8 million to become the second-biggest debut (second only to “Marvel’s The Avengers’” with $207.4 million).

Internationally the film earned $307.2 million, which puts it second behind “Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2’s” $314 million.
