Spierig Bros’ new vampire flick with Ethan Hawke
Popular Australian actress Claudia Karvan has won the female lead in the Spierig Bros’ new feature, “Daybreakers”.
The film, starring Ethan Hawke, Willem Dafoe and Sam Neill, starts filming on the Gold Coast on July 16.
“Daybreakers”, set In the year 2017, tells of a plague that has transformed most every human into vampires. Faced with a dwindling blood supply, the fractured dominant race plots their survival; meanwhile, a researcher works with a covert band of vamps on a way to save humankind. a researcher (Hawke) works with a covert group of vamps to a band of humans fight back.
Karvan, best known to Aussie audiences as the star of TV hits “The Secret Life of Us” and “Love My Way” (American audiences may have spotted her in the “Star Wars” prequels or kiddies pic “Aquamarine”), will play the object of Hawke’s character’s affection, a human, Lucy.
