Former “Veronica Mars” star Kristen Bell will join (former “Gilmore Girls” star) Melissa McCarthy in the new Universal laffer “Michelle Darnell”.
This one, helmed by McCarthy’s real-life beau Ben Falcone (“Tammy”), has already secured the services of thesps Peter Dinklage (who might also end up with McCarthy in that “Ghostbusters”.. thing) and Kathy Bates.
According to THR, who had the scoop on Bell’s anointment, the flick “centers on a titan of industry who is sent to prison after she’s caught insider trading. When she emerges ready to re-brand herself as America’s latest sweetheart with the help of a former assistant, not everyone she screwed over is so quick to forgive and forget.”
Bell (“House of Lies”) plays the title character’s former assistant, a mousy single-mother who is trying to start her own cupcake business.
