“American Horror Story” alum Kate Mara is testing for a role in the standalone “Star Wars” film, due for release late 2016. The movie, directed by Gareth Edwards, has also been looking at Rooney Mara, Felicity Jones and Tatiana Maslany for the unspecified role. (Twitter)

“Star Trek” star Simon Pegg will pull double duty on the upcoming threequel. The British actor and filmmaker will co-write the next instalment with Doug Jung. The previous version of the script was written by Roberto Orci, who also exited his position of director on the picture. (Deadline)
