Law & Order: Trial by Jury to continue

Despite star Jerry Orbach’s sad and untimely death, the producers of "Law and Order : Trial By Jury" say the show will continue.

Orbach had left the original series last spring and was to reprise his popular role on the latest, fourth edition of the NBC drama franchise, which was scheduled to debut early next year.

"While Jerry is irreplaceable, ‘Law & Order: Trial by Jury’ is an ensemble and will continue in production," the producers tell The Washington Post. "A new cast member will join the company, announcements will be forthcoming."

Orbach appears in three of the six episodes shot so far, an NBC rep told the paper.

"Law and Order : Trial By Jury" stars Orbach, Bebe Neuwirth ["Cheers"], Carey Lowell ["License to Kill"], John Mahoney ["Frasier"], and Fred Thompson ["Days of Thunder"].
