Caffeinated Clint
Matt Reeves is one of today’s most exciting new filmmakers (“Cloverfield” and “Let Me In” weren’t just entertaining… they were inspiring!) and Jacob Aaron Estes writes beautiful, beautiful stuff (see “Mean Creek”? Wow!). Together, they’ll make a darn fine ‘Frankenstein’ movie (though I suppose the notion of De Niro and Branagh teaming up for a ‘Frankenstein’ movie also seemed promising at the time…whatever).
According to Deadline, Reeves is directing “The Last Endeavour”, Estes’ adaptation of the Kenneth Oppel novel ”This Dark Endeavor: The Apprenticeship of Victor Frankenstein”.

Victor and Konrad are the twin brothers Frankenstein. They are nearly inseparable. Growing up, their lives are filled with imaginary adventures…until the day their adventures turn all too real.They stumble upon The Dark Library, and secret books of alchemy and ancient remedies are discovered. Father forbids that they ever enter the room again, but this only peaks Victor’s curiosity more. There’s a bunch of “Frankenstein”-related movies in the works; Columbia Pictures and producer Matt Tomach recently acquired ”Frankenstein” by Craig Fernandez; Slash is producing a film based on Steve Niles’ “Wake the Dead”; Stuart Beattie is attached to direct “I, Frankenstein”; and Sam Raimi’s producing a film based on the book by ”The Casebook of Victor Frankenstein”. Strangely enough, the Wayans’ “Munsters” movie hasn’t been heard of in a while and it’s, personally-speaking, is one of the ‘Frank’ projects I’m most curious about. Loves ya Fred Gwynne.
