Liman’s Moon project back-up without Gyllenhaal

The film formerly known as “Lunar”, an outer-space project that Jake Gyllenhaal was long attached to, is gearing back up. “Bourne Identity” director Doug Liman, who had been onboard to direct the Gyllenhaal-starring version when it was set-up at Dreamworks and later Paramount, remains onboard as helmer, according to THR.

The untitled film ”centers on a renegade group of former space employees, led by an Eastern European woman, who travel the world, stealing space equipment in an attempt to go back to the moon to acquire an energy source. The last item to steal — or in this case, kidnap — is an ex-NASA employee.”

Some of the actresses Liman is said to have met with include Rosario Dawson, Megan Fox, Rachel McAdams, Eva Mendes, Zoe Saldana and Olivia Wilde.
The actors Liman has sussed out include Chris Pine, Andrew Garfield and Emile Hirsch.

Paramount will factor in the chemistry of the lead actors before deciding on a shoot date, though Liman is said to be hoping to start rolling in the Summer.
