James Wan’s MacGyver prequel a go!

The “MacGyver” reboot has got the greenlight over at CBS.

The new series is said to fix on “a 20-something MacGyver as he gets recruited into a clandestine organization where he uses his knack for solving problems in unconventional ways to help prevent disasters from happening.”

R. Scott Gemmill (”NCIS: LA”) wrote the first stab of the script but the current draft comes from Paul Downs Colaizzo (“LFE”).

Original “MacGyver” producer Henry ‘the Fonz’ Winkler is onboard to executive produce alongside James Wan’s Atomic Monster head of production Michael Clear.

“Aquaman” helmer Wan will also direct executive produce and direct the pilot episode.

“MacGyver” lasted seven seasons and 139 episodes, spanning two TV movies on ABC in 1994.
