McGregor and Close for Sunset Boulevard?

The unlikely duo of Ewan McGregor and Glenn Close (we’ll take the version without the rumpy-pumpy, thanks) are set for a film version of big Andy’s "Sunset Boulevard", according to Contact Music.

The $57 million movie version of Lord Lloyd Webber’s musical is tipped for a release late next year.

Co-producer Austin Shaw says, "Andrew would love Glenn to do the role [of Norma Desmond, which she played in the award-winning Broadway run of the show in 1993] and she has been approached. The pair have spoken about it privately at this year’s Golden Globes ceremony and she said she would be happy to take it on again."

If all goes well, and both Close and McGregor sign on the carbon-paper shortly, the film should be before a lens soon, with Shaw aiming for it to be out just in time for Saint Nick’s next visit.

"It should be out in time for Christmas 2006."
