Winter on a third Bill and Ted

Keanu went on to fame and fortune, but his "Bill and Ted" cohort Alex Winter got, well, food stamps and freebies.

Talking to About.com today, the actor turned director talked about the next phase of his career, including an unremitting idea for a third "Bill and Ted" film.

Winter, who also starred in "The Lost Boys", says he’ll be shooting a couple of films in the future – including one based on the infamous Napster case.

"The Napster one is at Paramount. The Sean Fanning story. It’s like a People Vs. Larry Flynt kind of thing. It’s a very irreverent examination of an 18-year-old kid who has a genius idea, ends up on the cover of Time and then becomes vilified and loses everything. It’s a great story. He’s a fantastic human being, really inspirational person but there’s a lot of humor and there’s a lot of music obviously. So that’s something I’ve been working on for a while".

He continues, "I [also] just finished writing a movie about the Williams sisters for Showtime. That again is also a very irreverent biopic which is really an examination of celebrity and young celebrity, and I can’t talk that much about it. But that’s basically what that is. And then I have the film that I’m set to direct early next year is what I started working on after Fever which is kind of what took me so long to get to the next movie because it took about three years to research. That’s a political satire about foreign aid workers in Africa. And me and the writer who I developed the story with spent time with the UN and the SAS traveling to refugee camps and war zones, just getting a feel for who these people were and now that’s set up, so we’re hoping to shoot that next year. That’s something that Alan Rickman is in and a French actress named Elodie Bouchet, and that’s what I’m looking to shoot next."

Keanu Reeves said a few moons back he and his lesser-known co-star have thought about doing a third "Bill and Ted" movie that fixes on the characters as middle-aged rocker has-beens. Winter’s so-so on the idea.

"I don’t know. I go back and forth, but usually forth. It depends on so many factors. I definitely miss working [with him.] He and I had a lot of fun working together. I think we both miss working together. We hang out a lot but we haven’t shot anything together in a long time. I think eventually we’ll work together in something, whether it’s that or something else."

According to BillandTed3.com, Alex Winter is the chap who has apparently penned the script for the second sequel. In 2003, the production office told the site that " Alex Winter is supposed to be working on a draft the last we heard. It’s kind of up to them (Keanu and Alex) if they want to do a sequel".
