Jessica McNamee joins Jason Statham in Meg

Aussie actress Jessica McNamee is set to co-star opposite Jason Statham in Warner Bros’ shark flick “Meg.”

Jon Turtletaub is directing the film which also has Chinese actress Fan Bingbing on board to co-star.

Based on Steve Allten’s book, the latest draft of the script was penned by Jamie Vanderbilt and centres on a 70-foot, 40-ton prehistoric shark known as Carcharodon Megalodon (aka Meg).

The project has been in the works for upwards of two decades. Last year it had Eli Roth attached to direct, before it was overhauled yet again and Turteltaub became attached.

Producers are Lorenzo Di Bonaventura, Belle Avery and Colin Wilson with executive producers Wei Wayne Jiang, Barrie M. Osborne, Randy Greenberg and Gerald R. Molen.

“Meg” is slated for release on March 2, 2018.
