Moviehole MailBag – 9/11/06

The one without “Holden”

(did I mention I’m at MySpace now?)

Hey there Ladies & Gents, Weeksy here to open up the good old Mailbag for another week, you ask the questions, I fumble my way through the answers:

Q. Clint, Have you herd any news about the “Wonder Woman” movie? Whedon has not mentioned anything, even on his web site. Is it still a go? Or did Warner finally wake up and cut tie’s with ego boy? – Jack
Errrrrrr…. “Ego Boy”? First things first brother, Joss is a great guy, and he drops me a cheque regularly, so no bad mouthing here of the great one. Seriously though, I think it is still definitely a go, the script is still being worked on, so it’s still going to be at least another…. I dunno, maybe two years before we see it.

Q. I really loved “Commander In Chief”, and I was wondering about the status of the movie, can you tell me if it is cancelled. – Claire
Hmmm, I don’t know anything about a movie…. I guess you’re talking about the TV series, right? If that’s the case, it’s gone, dead, finished, finito, done deal pal.

Q. Hey Moviehole, do you think we will ever see an UNRATED edition of “Barbarella” with Jane Fonda? Do you think any extra footage exists? – Chris
A. Ah, good old “Barbarella: Queen Of The Galaxy”. I’m sure there is probably a bunch of stuff that they could include, not the least of which would be a commentary track by Fonda, and maybe some production drawings and stuff – but I’m sure there’s probably gotta be some extra footage. It’ll be the 40th anniversary in 2008, so maybe we’ll get something then.

Q. Can you tell me if you have these DVD competitions – “Pirates Of the Caribbean 2” and “Ice Age 2” plus “Superman Returns”? I am 36yrs of age and have a muscle and co-ordination condition that prevents me from taking part in any active hobbies. – Jason
A. Not right now brother, my apologies. Keep checking back on that little “Giveaway” tab on the left hand side of the page, and if a couple copies come our way, we’re bound to do a little comp for them.

Q. Just a comment about the rumours concerning a sequel to “L.A. Confidential” called “White Jazz”. An interesting thing about WJ is that in the books, Dudley Smith’s character lives through LAC and becomes the main antagonist in WJ, where Ed Exley goes on to get revenge. In the movie “L.A Confidential”, however, Dudley is killed, so either the writers are going to have a new antagonist written into Dudley’s role, or the story will only loosely follow the book. – Jon
A. Didn’t Dudley die in the book as well? It’s been a few years since I last read it, and you’re getting me confused now……. Fuck. I’m gonna have to go back and read it again now. I didn’t even know there was a follow up book until this week, so I’ll have to double up on the reading material.

Q. Hey Clint, Any news on the “Friday the 13th” remake by Platinum Dunes, “A Nightmare On Elm Street” prequel or “Freddy vs Jason 2”? Will these two horror icons be on the big screen anytime soon? – Trevor
A. Wow, you just hit the holy trifecta of films that will be in development hell for the next decade. I don’t know bro, I hear about all of these here & there, but nothing ever seems to really get going. That aside, I finally got around to reading the article from “Fangoria” that’s on the “Freddy vs. Jason” DVD – great read if you haven’t taken the time to check it out yet.

Q. Hi there, are there any plans to do a remake of “An American Werewolf In London”? Believe it or not I think “An American Werewolf In Paris” was much better due to Julie Delpy’s performance. The first one was too gross-out gory. – Chris
A. It’s been a while since I’ve seen “Paris”, and I can’t really remember if I liked it or not….. I do remember that the special FX looked a bit odd even for the time it was done… I don’t know. Anyhow, as far as a remake goes, I really hope that they don’t do it – it’s one of those classic horror flicks that shouldn’t get “re-invented”. I’ve watched it a bunch of times, and never really thought that it was that gory. Obviously there’s the Jack stuff with the decomposition but it’s not too bad when you line it up against something like “Hostel” or “Saw”.

Q. Hey Clint, What’s up with ‘Indiana Jones 4’? When you say George Lucas ‘killed it’, does that mean it’s off for good? – Rob
A. I think that was actually Frank D. saying that Lucas “Killed It”, but I would say that he was talking mainly about the script that he wrote for the new flick. Apparently everyone but George absolutely flipped for it, and that was enough to send it back to the drawing board. Frank believes that it (the film in general) isn’t gonna happen, but I would say it’s still on track.

Q. Do you know why the TV series “Invasion” was cancelled? It just suddenly… disappeared. – Chris A.
A. Yeah, it’s a bit odd. Ratings weren’t horrible for it, but I guess they just weren’t good enough to keep it going. Good to see William Fichtner doing such a kick-ass job on “Prison Break” though.

Q. Hi Moviehole Dudes, What’s the word on “Rogue” – and will it have to change its name because of the other movie of the same title, with Jason Statham? – Anon
A. I think the boss has either just seen it, or he’s about to, so he’ll be in shortly with the good word on it. Other reviews that I’ve read seem to indicate that it’s pretty good so Greg might make it two for two. I don’t think that Jason’s film will have any impact on the title (it looks friggin’ great though).

Q. I read in a magazine here about a new western film with Muse Watson is this the same place that the guy is producing and if so can you give me his contacts details when it will come I am costumes old-west in WA. – Francis
A. Good for you!

Q. Why don’t you give the Russell Crowe movie, A GOOD YEAR, a BETTER Review! He deserve more than 3 star! You should ashamed to be australliaen. He would do better if supported. – Michelle
A. Yeah you’re right, Clint should be ashamed to be “australliaen”. Learn how to spell or even compose a sentence before you start slinging shit around you jackass. The movie was average at best, learn to love it.
