Names linked to Fantastic Four and The Dark Tower

Some of today’s hottest young things are circling roles in a couple of long-gestating high-profile projects.

Firstly, casting is said to be speeding up on Fox’s reboot of “Fantastic Four”, which is expected to get underway in Baton Rouge in March. In addition to the long-mooted Michael B.Jordan (“Fruitvale Station”), who is long thought to have had the role of Johnny Storm/The Human Torch tied up, auditioning are Miles Teller (for Reed Richards), Richard Madden (for Richards), Kit Harrington (for Richards), Saoirse Ronan (for Sue Storm), and Kate Mara (for Sue Storm). Simon Kinberg recently finished his re-write on the film, which will be directed by Josh Trank (“Chronicle”). (Variety)

Meanwhile, Ron Howard’s long-proposed film version of Stephen King’s “The Dark Tower” may have a frontrunner for the role of Eddie Dean : “Need for Speed” and “Breaking Bad” star Aaron Paul. The actor says he’s had a “ton of meetings” about the movie, which many assumed was dormant. “I just had a general sit down with Ron Howard, who is a huge fan of the show (Breaking Bad, naturally),” Paul told Ain’t it Cool News, “which is such a crazy thing to even think that Ron Howard even knows who I am. They’re definitely planning on making it.” The goal, says the actor, is “to do three films, but also have a television element to it, which will be very interesting. From what I hear, Eddie Dean is a pretty epic, iconic character.”
