Need for Speed writer joins Skull Island

Universal and Legendary Pics’ “Skull Island” is getting a re-write, reports Deadline.

The “King Kong” prequel will be re-written by John Gatins, responsible for the scripts for the likes of “Fight”, “Real Steel” and “Need For Speed”.

Gatins will work from the initial drat penned by “Godzilla” scribe Max Borenstein.

The film is being described as the King Kong “origin story”. It is said that it will explore the life of the monster gorilla before he was taken to civilization.

Tom Hiddleston is set to star (although his role is unknown) and Jordan Vogt-Roberts will direct.

“Skull Island” will open against Marvel’s “Doctor Strange” on November 4, 2016.
