Orci to direct next Star Trek

Roberto Orci will direct Paramount and Skydance’s “Star Trek 3”.

According to Variety, Orci will take over the franchise from J.J. Abrams who helmed the first two instalments. Abrams is currently tied up directing the next “Star Wars” film but will be involved by producing the “Star Trek” pic.

As of yet plot details are not known, nor is the cast, however it is expected that reoccurring stars Chris Pine and Zachary Quinto are likely to return.

Skydance’s David Ellison will produce along with Abrams and his producing partner Bryan Burke.

Orci co-wrote and produced the first two films of the recently rebooted “Star Trek” series.
