Ouija Movie is back on! Film finds its writer

Last we heard about the “Ouija” movie, Universal Pictures dropped the Hasbro-based board game due to the film’s budget. And while the film doesn’t have a studio to kick back and settle with for the time being, one issue has been resolved.

“Fright Night” writer Marti Noxon has just been hired to crank out a script.  The “Ouija” film was one of six titles based on Hasbro games that were set up in 2008, with films including “Monopoly” and “Candyland”.

Screenwriter Simon Kinberg (“Sherlock Holmes”) had taken a pass at the “Ouija” script under the supervision of McG, who envisioned it as a big-budget Jumanji-like family fantasy.

Noxon recently passed on the chance to write the script for the big-screen adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice and Zombies” based on Seth Grahame-Smith’s best-selling novel.

I’m not the only one thinking this is an unnecessary film, am I? I mean, with the exception of “Jumanji” and the 1985 “Clue” movie, do we really need a bunch of new movies based on a board game? What do you all think?
