The latest installment in Disney’s swashbuckling juggernaut, “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” now looks like it will sail into cinemas sometime in 2016, according to THR.
Titled “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales,” the fifth in the Pirates series was initially anticipated for a 2015 release date, but the studio now claims to be spending extra time with this particular installment in order to get it right.
This could be a wise move by the studio, given the relatively disappointing nature of the most recent release “On Stranger Tides” compared to the original trilogy that featured the handsome Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and delightfully feisty Elizabeth Swann (Kiera Knightley) alongside the devious Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp) and his mutinous former-first-mate Hector Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush)
Depp has of course signed on to reprise his role, with rumors circulating that Bloom might be back to give audiences another chapter in Will Turner’s tale. Jeff Nathanson (Rush Hour 3) has written the screenplay, which will be directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg. There is no news at this stage as to when filming will commence.
Disney is hardly suffering for want of summer 2015 releases, with Pixar’s “Inside Out” and “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” both set to hit cinemas and the possibility of “Ant-Man” moving up from a November to a July release date.
