Power Rangers reboot finds its Pink Ranger

Naomi Scott has signed on to play the Kimberly/the Pink Ranger in Lionsgate’s upcoming “Power Rangers” film.

Reports suggest other actors up for parts in the film include KJ Apa, Austin Butler and Mitchell Hope for the the Red Ranger, and Daniel Zovatto, Ross Butler and Brian “Sene” Marc for the Black Ranger. Now that the first cast member has been revealed, we expect more casting announcements to follow soon.

Dean Israelite is directing the film from a script by Ashley Miller and Zack Stentz. Producers are Haim Saban, Brian Casentini and Allison Shearmur.

The project will reimagine the origins of the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, a group of high school kids given extraterrestrial powers who unite to save the world.

“Power Rangers” will open on January 13, 2017.
