Reynolds as Sub-Mariner?

How many superheroes can one guy play?

Ever since Ryan Reynolds transformed himself into muscle-adorned Hannibal King [for "Blade Trinity"], Avi and the troops have been chasing him for another comic-book movie. He’s likely to be putting on the lyrca to play "The Flash", but apparently he’s also been contacted about playing wet-wonder Namor.

Talking to Latino Review, Reynolds says he’s not only had discussions about "The Flash" (which he’ll do with David Goyer, and a pair of slinky red bike-pants) but also "The Sub-Mariner", which The Rock was rumoured to be the frontrunner for at one stage.

"Avi Arad, who owns Marvel, bought it up to me [The Sub-Mariner] and that would be something I’d be keen on", says Reynolds. "From what I’ve learnt from Avi, it’s quite an undertaking, so it’s going to be a pretty big movie".

The film, based on a series thats been running since 1939, follows the adventures of Prince Namor, a half man/half amphibian from Atlantis. The troubled sod helps out both those above and under water. Chris Columbus is supposedly directing.

It’s no dead loss for The Rock. Apparently, Marvel like him for "The Silver Surfer". But do have to admit, Reynolds is a much better fit for Namor – how Dwayne’s name came up is beyond me.
