Ritchson on Aquaman movie

Small-screen Aquaman Alan Ritchson, who plays the dripping-wet Justice Leaguer on TVs “Smallville”, says he’d up for reprising the role on a stand-alone series but doesn’t think it’d ever happen.

”I don’t think a TV show is a reality, to be honest”, the actor tells Comic Book Resources. “Not that I wouldn’t like to see that story told. Like I said earlier, Aquaman’s basically the Superman of the Seas and there’s a really cool story behind that. I think it would be fun to tell it, but it’s just so hard to tell a story involving water. And it’s expensive. In today’s day and age, people aren’t looking to spend a lot of money on a TV show. Maybe someday they’ll find a way, technically, to do it in a fiscally sound manner.

”But a movie, on the other hand, I think is very much a reality. In fact, I think there’s one in the works. Some people in LA are starting to get the ball rolling on that. I don’t know what my involvement would ever be in that, but, yeah, I think it would be cool to see that happen. But it’s just so expensive to do. It’s hard to say if it’s really going to happen. ”

I can tell you that there is an “Aquaman” movie in the works. DC and Appian Way (Leonardo DiCaprio’s prod shingle) are working on it, and I believe it’s currently out to writers. There’s talk of “Aquaman” following up “Man of Steel” in the Summer of 2013. As for who will play the wet one? DiCaprio will have first dibs, naturally, but it’s likely he’ll want someone else… someone younger… to fill the orange togs.

As most know, an “Aquaman” TV series pilot was produced in 2006 with “Smallville” alum Justin Hartley (‘Green Arrow’) in the lead role. It was never picked up for series. Here’s a look anyway :

And, of course, in the fictional world of “Entourage”, ‘Vinnie Chase’ played the title character in a successful James Cameron directed production :
